For some reason I bought Trail this month, prolly as I’ve started reading PTC’s blog again as there’s a good mix of humour, trips and gear reports and he mentioned one of his photographs was on the front cover. btw I’ve never worked out what the * in PTC* means and I’ve never asked as you need to login to comment and I can do without YABloP (Yet Another Blog Password)! Anyway, Trail. Yes, it’s all a bit chaotic for me, with a rather unfocused target market ranging from pram pushers to ice climbers and every other shade of demographic in between. It mirrors the quick and easy Twitter culture with bite sized chunks of info spread all over the shop. With its readers experiences (this month is the Inn Pinn) it’s also more of a paper based community than a traditional outdoor mag, which is good in a way. For younger readers no doubt. In fact it’s quite loud and shouty and busy with info on just about any outdoor subject, none of it in depth. But I was intrigued by a reference to Action Man on the hills and I put down my cup of cocoa and plate of Hobnobs to type their link into the browser and what a superb advert! It might not be my kind of mag but this Trail Magazine subscription advert deserves an award. It’s just so different and I loved it! Well done Trail!
