Stravaiging St. Cuthbert's Way.

Me on the summit of Maol Chinn Dearg

A warm welcome to you, reader. My name is Alistair and in the first week of July 2013, I decided on a change of scene. For the last thirty years I've been hill walking, mountaineering, climbing, cycling and all sorts to do with the outdoors. I've even been doing some guiding recently, having qualified as an ML a few years ago. After some research on various sites and books I plumped for St. Cuthbert's Way, a 100km (about 64 miles) walking route through varied scenery in the Scottish borders and Northumberland.

The route starts at Melrose, climbs beside the Eildon hills, wanders across fields and moors, taking in a Roman road and native woods along the way. There are lovely wee villages as staging posts with often wild and remote hill country between as the way eventually softens towards the Northumberland coast to finish at the holy island of Lindisfarne.
