I’m a heavy user of Anquet Maps as my eyesight is naff and I can blow up the maps to any scale. I had a look at Memory Map at first but found that Anquet was easier to use and more intuitive. Well, I’m glad I chose Anquet as they now have an online map server, the Anquet Map Server.
All you have to do is download the latest Anquet software, create an account on their site, then start defining your own maps. You can drag your area, buy and download in minutes:
The screenshot above shows me defining a 1:25,000 map of Seana Braigh. All I did was click on the Download button in Anquet, which brings up the dialog box on the left of the screen. Then I clicked on the Define button. That changes how the mouse works in Anquet. I then just dragged out the area on the right and specified 1:25,000 in the dialog box. If I didn’t get it quite right I just clicked on the Clear All button to start again. When I was satisfied with the area I clicked on the Add button and then bought the map there and then over the connection to the Anquet Map Server. The map then downloaded in a couple of minutes.
Remember to backup your new map.
