With the weather continuing scorching, hot and very very sunny, Graeme was in the vicinity again, this time Corbetteering with Bob and Sandra, so I tagged along on a bimble up Sgurr Mhic Bharraich at the head of Glen Shiel yesterday. The morning was very claggy with thick cloud down to sea level but as the morning wore on, it lifted and broke up to reveal yet another scorching day.
It was unbelievably hot on the walk up the excellent path to Loch Coire nan Crogachan, where we lunched and headed up the steep slopes of Mhic Bharraich to the superb viewpoint of the summit. It’s one of the best mountain viewpoints I know. Bounded on one side by the Five Sisters and The Saddle, with the Cuillin forming the outer ramparts and Torridon away to the north. A stunning place indeed.
A pint in the Kintail Lodge Hotel rounded off a fantastic day on the hill. However, this morning, Mrs. Stravaiger picked 18 ticks off me!
