the art of the bimble

After a sporting wintery traverse of Blaven the other day Dawn dragged me off the couch and up Beinn nan Carn, one of the best viewpoints on Skye. It’s not a Munro or a Corbett. It’s something even more obscure which I can’t remember but it has a nice flat summit with loads of spots to pitch a tent and some of the best views on the planet.
The views stretch from Knoydart to the east, the vast sweep of Broadford Bay to the north, surrounded by the Torridonian giants and the sanctuary of Applecross, over to the Cuillin in the west and right round to Rum, Canna, Eigg and Muck in the south, with a southern seascape that is stunning beyond words at sunset. As a viewpoint, Beinn nan Carn takes some beating.
Just back in and tucking into bacon butties!
